Way clear to Rabiot for Liverpool FC?
According to a report in the Spanish news outlet AS, Liverpool's main competition for the free transfer of PSG midfielder Adrian Rabiot has just dropped out of the running.
Reports earlier in January suggested the Catalan giants had already agreed terms for the 23 year old France international but no, according to AS, the club has pulled out of any attempts to sign him.
The report states that the form of young midfielder Alena and the signing of Dutch star Frenkie De Jong has seen Barca's interest cool.
Could this lead to the way clearly opening for LFC to move for the player?
Well, that remains to be seen really as so far it appears there is little known interest in the PSG midfielder from the Reds. Most reports linking him tend to stem from his desire to play for Liverpool, which has been stated in the past.
Saying that though, with the player reportedly also attracting interest from several Premier League rivals, it's hard to believe that the club haven't at least taken a look at a player that could really bolster our midfield options.
If the Spanish league leaders are genuinely out of the running then we may see an increase in activity where Rabiot's new destination is concerned. Watch this space.
