Van Dijk: Clean sheet the most important thing for Liverpool
According to big Virg, the most important aspect of Liverpool's result last night was in keeping a clean sheet.
The Reds ended up with a 2-nil victory from the 90 minutes at Anfield, with chances to have extended that lead.
However, Porto also squandered a few chances themselves and, despite (mainly Marega) being profligate in front of goal, will feel like they gave a solid account of themselves.
Because of the away side's encouraging display though, the Reds' centre back was most pleased with the clean sheet.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com following the match, he said: "Obviously we know it's going to be a tough game and to score two good goals was very important, but the clean sheet was the most important thing,.
"We have something to build on.
"We kept pressing, we kept going - we played very well I think. Obviously in the second half they tried to change it up a little bit.
"[There were] some moments of danger, but I don't think clear chances really. But we need to do it a little bit better, especially in the second half."
