Van den Berg: Moving to Liverpool a 'dream come true'
As reported in the last 24 hours, Liverpool have finally completed the club's first summer signing, albeit he's 17 and won't be a first team player just yet.
The Dutch youngster has signed for Liverpool from Eredivisie team PEC Zwolle for a fee believed to be around £1.3 million, with add-ons no doubt to come later.
At first, he'll join up with the U23's squad but is expected to be a good fit for the first team before too long.
Asked by Liverpoolfc.com how he was feeling after signing, he said: "Can I put it into words? It’s just amazing. It is, for me, the biggest club in the world and it’s a dream come true. I am really excited."
The Dutch under 19's centre back played 15 times in the top division for his side last season and is expected to be ready for the first-team before too long.
But when he first heard that LFC were interested, he found it hard to believe. He said: "Longer-term, I hope I can play as much as possible here for the club. Short-term, [my target is] to be with the first team, develop myself, grow into the team and see how it goes. Long-term, I really want to be a legend here."
