Shaqiri could be for sale, but not until summer
It'd be sad to see him go, but when you see how underused he's been since joining from Stoke for £13.5 million a couple of years ago, it may be best for both parties.
The 27 year old Swiss winger has had his moments at Liverpool since joining. His winning goals against Man Utd last season. His performance against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final. He's also made a number of top cameos appearances.
But he's found his game-time limited again this season, for reasons that just simply aren't clear. He's obviously good enough, we've all seen the evidence.
And the argument that he doesn't work hard enough is nonsense. You only have to watch him to see the work he gets through.
The encouraging thing though, is that he club aren't willing to let him go until the summer. Despite setting a price-tag of around £25 million for the player. With two bids already rejected from Roma during this window.
If, like Divock Origi, he can work his way into contention in the second half of the season and play a key role in the run in, there's no reason he can't find himself playing a larger role for the rest of the season. But it's a case of 'watch this space', unfortunately for Shaq.
