Reports: Mignolet wants out, Liverpool want big fee
If you believe reports this morning, the news earlier in the summer that Simon Mignolet was happy to play backup to Alisson Becker appear to be wide of the mark.
That's because, according to David Lynch in the Evening Standard this morning, the Belgian international wants to 'reignite' his career away from Anfield.
Apart from a handful of cup appearances - domestically - last season, Mignolet played second fiddle to Alisson all season, as the Brazilian became the best in the world.
But Mignolet was an able backup and supporter for the Copa America winner and appeared happy with his role in the squad.
Of course, which player would be happy never playing though? And that is apparently the case with the 31 year old, who no doubt feels he has one more big move in him.
According to the Standard's Lynch though, Liverpool are reluctant to let him move and, due to the current position the club are in financially and our standing in Europe, will demand big money for the stopper.
Apparently, Crystal Palace are 'preparing a bid of £8 million', which the club will reject outright but as to what sort of numbers we're wanting, it isn't made clear.
Jurgen Klopp will only consider an offer if it is sizeable and the Belgium star makes it clear that he wants to leave. That being the case, he won't stand in his way, and a move for a backup will likely materialise.
