Redknapp says title in 'Liverpool's hands', despite huge City win
As the 6th weekend of the Premier League season got underway, it couldn't have been expected that Man City would be 5-nil up after less than 20 minutes.
By full time they had absolutely mauled a mid-table top division side by 8 goals to nil. But that had only seen the gap close to the Reds by two points.
City do now have a far superior goal difference, something which could well be crucial by the end of the season, but Liverpool should have the edge at the back, meaning that the former champions will concede more. Or should.. concede more.
But Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp reckons that, despite City's big win on Saturday afternoon, Liverpool still have the title in their own hands. Even at this early stage.
Talking after the round of games on Saturday, he said: "It would be a statement win if Liverpool went to Chelsea and picked up three points.
"It's in their hands if you like (the Premier League). They have everything in their armour to win the league. If Liverpool keep everyone fit, I feel it will be their year."
