Real Madrid are wasting their time with Mane, according to Ian Doyle
It's good news, ahead of another massive round of fixtures this weekend, with Liverpool Echo writer Ian Doyle confirming LFC's stance regarding Real's interest in Sadio Mane.
The 26 year old Senegalese star has been in sensational form in recent months and is now joint 2nd top goal-scorer in the Premier League along with Mo Salah and a host of other world-renowned strikers.
He's on course to smash his goal-scoring record from last season, the sort of form that had former-now-returned Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, mark his name at the top of his summer transfer wish list.
But Zidane left in the summer and the move was never even considered. However, according to Doyle, the French manager has pushed Mane back to the top of his list for this summer.
According to the Echo and Daily Mail writer though, everything has changed since last season. Liverpool are now bolstered by that Champions League run, along with the sale of Coutinho last January and turned a record profit last season.
On the pitch, we're also in the best position we've been in for over a decade, fighting for the Premier League and once again into the last 8 of the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Real are sliding quickly, struggling in La Liga and not guaranteed a place at the top table of European football, whilst also being out of this season's competition to Ajax.
Funny how football can change in 12 months, suddenly Liverpool are in a strong position and have no need - or desire - to sell their best players.
He goes on to say that, while even Liverpool would struggle to match the "lure & lustre" of the Spanish giants, there is no loophole in Mane's current contract....
