Poch: Liverpool favourites because they've invested lots of money
With the biggest game in recent Red history less than 8 days away, the talk and mind games from both sides will start to ramp up.
Spurs, it seems, have already started theirs, with manager Mauricio Pochettino keen to point out that Liverpool are favourites. However his reason for why is because we've spent more.
Speaking to El Partidazo de COPE, Pochettino said: "Liverpool was a finalist [last year] and fought for the Premier League with Manchester City.
"They are favorites because they have invested a lot of money. They have signed a goalkeeper (Alisson) and a £75million defender (Van Dijk).
"Liverpool’s plan is to win the Champions League and Premier League. Tottenham’s plan is to make the best season in history.
"It's going to be a tactical duel between Klopp and Pochettino and the emotional part will decide the final.
"We have faced each other many times and I do not think we are surprised."
It's hard to disagree that we're favourites, it's also hard to say that we haven't spent a fair bit on our squad. But, as always, the 'net spend' argument just isn't allowed.
It may do Spurs good though, to remember that when Klopp took over we were so far behind them in terms of progress that a nil-nil draw at their old place was seen as an amazing result.
