Oliver Mintzlaff: LFC still in race for Timo Werner
According to the CEO of RB Leipzig, Liverpool are still very much in the race for their star forward and Germany international Timo Werner.
The 23-year old is almost certainly going to leave Leipzig this summer. Many believe his destination is going to be Bayern Munich - the club that generally hoovers up any and all of the Bundesliga's German talent.
But Mintzlaff claims that LFC are still interested and the striker has yet to make a decision on Bayern Munich.
He told Sky Sports: "We haven’t spoken to Timo Werner about Bayern Munich, but what the player wanted to do was important for us as he wanted to see how the season would go.
"Last year we certainly didn’t play football like we did in the season before. We have submitted an offer and we know that Timo would rather not extend – but that can still change.
"Maybe he doesn’t even want to go to Munich. Maybe he wants to go to [Thomas] Tuchel in Paris or, I have no idea, maybe to Jürgen Klopp [at Liverpool] or Lucien Favre [at Borussia Dortmund]."
