Nobody scares Man City.. but Liverpool - Robin van Persie
Man City picked up another domestic trophy today, after scraping their way into a penalty shootout, in a game they undoubtedly had no right to still be in.
The Reds hadn't been at the races in the first half but totally dominated the champions in the second half, showing why they are widely regarded as one of the best in the world.
Despite making no big buys in the summer, Liverpool boasted a strong starting line-up and bench, making use of those players in the second half as they turned the screw on Man City.
And former Man Utd striker Robin van Persie believes that nobody scares Guardiola's Man City side, apart from Liverpool.
Speaking on BT Sport 1 after the match, he said: "I think what we learnt today is that these two teams, Liverpool and Manchester City, are the best teams.
"Not only today and not only in England, in my opinion, (they) are the best two based on the past couple of years in Europe.
"The way they play. The philosophy of the coaches, they have different styles, but they are the best two teams in Europe , in my opinion.
"The way they play, the way they go in behind, the way they hurt opponents with their fast attackers.
"The midfield is always there, it’s very strong.
"City, I think, are scared of Liverpool. City, in a way, are scared of nobody except Liverpool."
