New deal at Liverpool is 'close' for Origi
The Reds' Champions League hero (still weird saying that) Divock Origi is very close to signing a new contract at the club, according to sources today.
The football site, Football Insider, claims that the club "are confident Divock Origi will agree a new long-term contract after Jurgen Klopp held talks with him while on holiday."
The 24-year old Belgian star looked surplus to requirements in both the summer and winter transfer windows of last season.
But he took his chances and remained at the club, before putting in some match-winning and changing displays towards the end of the season, capping it off with the winning goal in the Champions League final a month ago.
They also report that the club have offered Origi a new five-deal, with a 'significant pay-hike', which, if true, will no doubt sway the Belgian into staying.
Origi scored and assisted 8 goals in 22 appearances last season, with perhaps the most memorable being the late winner in the Merseyside derby and a couple against Barca.
