Messi says Barca are still suffering after Liverpool loss
As the time slowly winds down to Liverpool's second successive Champions League final, over in Barcelona they're still having a hard time getting over their semi final loss to us.
The Reds were, as you've no doubt remembered, 3-nil down from the first leg and stormed into an early lead. Three second half goals saw off Barcelona and put Jurgen Klopp's team into another final, against Premier League rivals Tottenham.
But for Barcelona, the memory of that night at Anfield will haunt them for the rest of the summer, maybe even into the start of next season.
Speaking ahead of the Copa Del Rey final, Messi (via the BBC) said: "We were hit hard by it.
"Winning the Copa del Rey will be the best way to end the season.
"We have to apologise for the second half of the match at Liverpool [when they conceded three goals in the 4-3 aggregate loss] not because of the result, but because of how it looked and that we didn't compete. It was one of the worst experiences in my career."
Whilst the Spanish champions have struggled in the Champions League for several years now, Liverpool have excelled in the competition under Klopp and will be hoping to go all the way this time around.
