Melissa Reddy: Todd Cantwell not an 'active target' for Liverpool currently
Following our 1-nil win away to Norwich on Saturday evening, the Sunday rumour mill was at it with reports that Liverpool had 'ramped up' their interest in City's Todd Cantwell.
The Reds had been linked to 21-year old midfielder already so far this season, but the latest reports seemed to suggest that it was almost a certainty that we'd move for him this summer.
But the reliable LFC-centric journalist, Melissa Reddy, appears to have dowsed the flames of those rumours today, by saying that Cantwell is not an 'active target' for the club.
She wrote: "Liverpool, meanwhile, have also been linked to Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell. It would be remiss of the club not to keep track of a player of his profile, but he is not considered an active target as things stand.
"There is a determination not to block the pathway for the starlets already at Anfield like Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott."
So there you have it: Liverpool would much rather see the likes of Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott progress through the ranks at the club, than spent big money on players like Cantwell. But don't expect that to end those rumours in their tracks, anytime soon!
