Match Preview: (UCL) Liverpool vs Bayern Munich

Date & time: Tuesday 19th February 8pm (GMT)

Where: Anfield

Where is it on: BT Sport 1

Referee: Gianluca Rocchi (ITA)

Tonight, it's the big one. The competition that is synonymous with LFC; that we've won more times than any other British side, is back.

It is very fitting that our first knockout opponents in this year's competition should be Bayern, Klopp's old enemy from his battle for the Bundesliga which bore fruit in the form of two league titles during his time at Borussia Dortmund.

This is a very different side than the one Klopp once dueled with, but still warrant the utmost respect being the current German champions.

Injuries & Suspension

Van Dijk is the obvious miss through suspension, whilst Joe Gomez will miss out through injury.

A bigger worry from last night is the fitness of Bobby Firmino, who was not well enough for training yesterday. The Brazil international is made of solid stuff though, and we reckon he'll start.

According to Jurgen, Dejan Lovren does have a small chance of featuring alongside Joel Matip but it would be strange if he was just thrust back into such a huge match having not played since the start of January. Trent Alexander-Arnold will no doubt make his first start since last month.

Elsewhere, Alex Oxlade-chamberlain is the obvious absentee further afield, whilst Xherdan Shaqiri will be back in the squad.

Bayern have a fair few absentees themselves, with Arjen Robben ruled out, Corentin Tolisso a long-term miss, and Jerome Boateng missing with a virus.

Thomas Muller will be suspended both legs, which will be a big miss for the Germans.

Liverpool: W-D-D-W-W (all comps)

Bayern Munich: W-W-W-L-W (all comps)

Predicted line-up

We just can't see Lovren being risked, whilst his previous experience in that role will likely see Fabinho start along side Matip.

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah and Firmino
