Match Preview: Liverpool vs Tottenham

Date & time: October 26th 2019, 16:30

Where: Anfield

Is it on: Sky Sports Premier League & Main Event

Referee: Anthony Taylor

Liverpool vs Spurs at Anfield presents a different prospect to the Liverpool vs Spurs that many had in mind a week ago.

Pochettino's team have battled back to a draw against Watford and put Red Star to the sword since the international break, whilst Liverpool have drawn at Man Utd and had a similarly thumping result away to Genk.

Spurs will come to Anfield with a boost in confidence, whilst the Reds themselves have received a timely boost from the return of Naby Keita, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the team (and form).

Mo Salah also returned in the week, providing a goal and assist to Sadio Mane, with a brace for the Ox, leaving Liverpool in good goal-scoring form as well.

Injuries & Suspension

Apparently Joel Matip could still be out against Spurs tomorrow, with Dejan Lovren tipped to take his place.

Trent Alexander-Arnold though, is expected to return. Elsewhere, Liverpool have few absentees, so Jurgen Klopp's only selection problems stem from who to leave out.

For Mauricio Pochettino, the only major absence is Hugo Lloris, due to a dislocated elbow so the Spurs boss will have a full squad to choose from, more or less.

Predicted Line up

Following the midfield performance against United and the much more forward-thinking display in mid-week, it's likely we'll see either Keita or Oxlade-Chamberlain start.

So that leaves Jurgen Klopp with a choice between Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson for the final slot, as far as we're concerned.

At home to Spurs, it would be insanity to - once again - choose the Fabinho, Gini, Hendo triumvirate that have often failed to click. Particularly after the cameos from Lallana, Naby and the Ox in the past week.

In defence, Dejan Lovren or Joe Gomez will take Joel Matip's place. We'd expect it to be Lovren, whilst Trent will surely take his place again at right back.

Starting line-up: Alisson, Trent, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robbo, Fabinho, Gini, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane, Salah and Firmino.
