Match Preview: Liverpool vs Arsenal

Date & time: August 24 2019, 5.30pm (BST)

Where: Anfield

Is it on: Sky Sports Premier League

Referee: Anthony Taylor

So a week on from the Southampton win, the players have had their first full week of training since the season began and will take on our biggest challenge of the season at Anfield.

Arsenal will arrive at the hallowed home of the Reds tonight with the only other 100% record in the league so far this season.

The Gunners have beaten Newcastle away and Burnley at the Emirates last Saturday and, while picking up 6 points, were far from convincing in either match.

But that doesn't mean that they'll be a pushover, and they will know that their first big test of the season against the European Champions is an opportunity to make a real statement.

Injuries & Suspension

No new news this week, other than Jurgen confirming that Alisson is on his way back and Naby Keita is still out for a few more weeks.

We also still have Nathaniel Clyne missing but he will likely be for another 4-5 months. But otherwise the Reds have no new concerns in that department.

For the Arsenal they are without Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka, whilst new signings Kieran Tierney and William Saliba are not yet available for Unai Emery to use.

Predicted line-up

Considering how the first three games of our season (UEFA SC included) have gone, there will be less surprises today, you feel, when we get the team news.

The only surprises may come in midfield, where Jurgen has yet to settle on a preferred three. We're almost certain to see Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, with one spot left.

Who get's that third midfield place? If you believe what our readers believe, it should be Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and it's hard to disagree as he'll be up for making a point against a side that could never get the best out of him on his return back from injury this season.

Predicted XI vs Arsenal: Alisson, Robertson, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
