Match Preview: Aston Villa vs Liverpool

Date & time: December 17th 2019, 19:45

Where: Villa Park

Is it on: Sky Sports

Ref: Lee Mason

A completely unprecedented situation will occur during the next couple of days, as the Champions of Europe (who you know as Liverpool) play twice in less than a day.

Liverpool will take on Aston Villa tomorrow night at Villa Park in the league cup, with a completely different squad, made up entirely of youngsters.

Whilst the main senior team, who are already in Doha, Qatar, will continue their preparations for the semi-final of the Club World Cup.

A handful of youngsters will take part tomorrow night, before travelling over to join the main squad, but it is a huge opportunity for all of them this week to make their own mark.

Jurgen Klopp has clearly set his priorities - rightly so - on the FIFA competition, which the club has never won before. It comes with much more prestige and, importantly, winnings.

But more important than anything is that it'll be another major trophy and the Reds can soon be called the best team in the world, if we get through and then win the final on Saturday evening.

Injuries & Suspension

There is little news, in this regard, to discuss really as the players available are all from the youth academy so it's anybody's guess as to which players will be in the squad.

One thing that is for certain is that neither Neco Williams or Curtis Jones will take part tomorrow night, as they're already with the senior squad in Doha.

For the home side for the tie, Villa will also no doubt make wholesale changes and expect to be the huge favourites, regardless.

Although they'd have been unlikely to play tomorrow regardless,Wesley, Tyrone Mings, Conor Hourihane, Keinan Davis & Jed Steer are all injured. however.

Last 5 games:

Aston Villa (all comps): W-D-L-L-L

Liverpool (all comps): W-W-W-W-W

Predicted Line up

The line-up tomorrow night is anyone's guess really, but there are some almost guaranteed starters.

Starting XI: Kelleher, Gallacher, van den Berg, Hoever, Larouci, Chirivella, Christie-Davies, Kane, Elliott, Brewster, Stewart.
