Man City - predictably - 'join the race' for Thiago Alcantara
Is it a 'race'? Are the Reds even on the starting line?
One thing I'm positive about is that we'll see nothing happening until after the Champions League final next weekend.
Thiago is still the crux of Bayern's midfield, and they have great intentions when it comes to this year's competition. Liverpool are out, so it's open to anybody, basically!
The 29 year old dominated Chelsea in the last round, and he'll be key to the German giant's chances, so it's unlikely anything will be decided until after the final. Or whenever Bayern exit the knockouts.
But reports coming from Sport Bild claim that Man City have now 'entered the race' and have a big interest in reuniting the Spaniard with his former manager who took him to Bayern in the first place.
The report states that City are 'offering more', although it isn't quite too clear if they mean the player or the club.
They add that the player still desperately wants to join Liverpool and work under Jurgen Klopp but it - as it often has been under FSG and Klopp - now up to the club to make an offer.
Obviously, the German paper are usually a bit of a mouthpiece for pro-Bayern propaganda, and if the German club sense Liverpool are trying to short-change them, they may be using our league rivals as a carrot to lure us back to make a real offer for the midfielder.
