Liverpool to pay 100% of wages to newly furloughed staff
It's never a positive move when an employer has to place staff on furlough, but that is what Liverpool FC has announced today.
Following the agreement between Premier League clubs that the season would only get underway again when it was safe to do so, clubs will have been looking at their next moves, with regards their staff.
Players, led by Jordan Henderson, are due to donate 30% of their wages to the NHS in the next month, whilst clubs are donating £20 million to the NHS to support staff directly.
But Liverpool has now taken the decision to place staff most affected by the further suspension of the Premier League on furlough. Those staff, though, will be paid in full during what will be a truly difficult financial period for most normal people.
