Liverpool 'target' Werner will allow contract to run down
With it being a long-accepted fact that Liverpool are desperately short up front, should the immense Brazilian Roberto Firmino suffer a long-term injury, it was expected that we'd sign a back up forward this summer. Particularly with Daniel Sturridge being allowed to leave.
But it wasn't to be and the club decided instead to put their faith in Divock Origi and the youthful exuberance of Rhian Brewster.
The long-term wish of many Liverpool fans is that we sign Timo Werner, the young German forward who plays for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
Apparently though, the forward is planning to allow his contract to run down and leave next summer on a free transfer, according to Goal journalist Ronan Murphy:
So, not surprisingly, Bayern are the favourites to sign the player but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Liverpool rival them for the player's signature.
