Liverpool take massive step toward title, as Man City lose for 7th time
What a weekend it's been for Liverpool who, after scraping a narrow win at home to relegation battling Bournemouth, moved 25 points clear of 2nd place Man City.
But today, Man Utd arguably did Liverpool an even bigger favour than they did for themselves, by consigning Man City to their 7th Premier League loss of the season.
That now leaves Jurgen Klopp's team 25 points clear, whilst City have just one game in hand. On Wednesday at home to Arsenal. Anything less than 3 points, and Liverpool could potentially win the title at Goodison Park on Monday night.
It's a ridiculous situation to be in, potentially winning a league title by mid-March, and to win it at the home of our biggest rivals would be absolutely phemonal; a dream that many older Reds could quite literally have only dreamt of for the last 30 years.
City have Burnley at home on Saturday too, meaning that they will play twice before we play the Merseyside derby on Monday night.
For City and Guardiola, only the FA Cup and Champions League can provide salvation now, as the 25 point gap threatens to become an even more embarrassing chasm, if they don't buck their ideas up fairly soon. Roll on Monday night.
