Liverpool's new signing, Minamino: 'It's been a dream to become a Liverpool player'
Many fans of rival clubs will roll their eyes at his declaration, but new Liverpool signing Takumi Minamino has said that it is a 'dream to become a Liverpool player'.
The RB Salzburg attacker will join the Reds on the 1st January, and will be eligible to play as soon as the FA Cup third round against Everton.
He is also eligible to play for the European Champions in the Champions League, despite having played against us in the group stage, thanks to a rule change last year.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, he declared how happy he is to be joining the club: "It has been a dream, my dream to become a Liverpool player. And I’m so excited that the moment has come true. I’ve known about it for a while."
The 24 year old has joined the club after a stellar start to the season, in which he already has 20 goals and assist in 22 games. 5 of which have come in 6 Champions League matches.
He's also had a successful 5 years in the Austrian Bundesliga, where he has won 5 leagues and 4 cups. He also has a lot of experience in Europe, with over 40 games across Champions League and Europa League for Salzburg.
The player is now ready to take the next step up though, directly to the best team in Europe and he's excited to get going, and play in front of the famous Anfield fans.
When asked about the fans excitement about his signing, he continued: "Yes, I have seen and heard about the fans’ excitement. But I was calm. Liverpool is a very famous team in Japan as well and it is a dream for a football player to play in such a team. It didn’t take me long to come to a decision."
