Liverpool's Fabinho withdrawn from Brazil national squad
It takes a hell of a lot for LFC to withdraw a player from their national team's squad. Sometimes, you'll find fans pleading with the club to pull players out during really pivotal moments of the season (or during a pandemic 2nd wave!).
But the Reds rarely do it, unless absolutely necessary. On this occasion though, it appears that Jurgen Klopp and his team have deemed it necessary, as Fabinho has been pulled out of the Brazil squad.
We'd heard yesterday that the injury doesn't look as bad as first though, weeks rather than months, so he should return after the next international fixtures.
It does mean he'll miss the crunch match against Man City next weekend though, a game in which we'll possibly be starting with only one senior centre back, in Joe Gomez. Joel Matip was meant to return this week, but that has been pushed back again to the weekend.
Not an ideal situation when you're going up against a team that regularly passes 100 goals as season. But Liverpool's withdrawal of Fabinho means that, whatever the next few results, he will be back in time for the restart after the break.
