Liverpool 'ready' to move in January transfer window, says Jurgen Klopp
Updated: Dec 7, 2019
Well, while we're not quite on our knees with injuries and suspensions at the moment, we are a little bit short in key personnel. Mainly in Fabinho's position. Because he's injured.
We'll also have Alisson missing for the Merseyside derby tomorrow night. Joel Matip is also a long-term injury concern, with no end to his absence yet in sight.
Nathaniel Clyne, of course, is out for at least another couple of months and will likely be moved on.
But that's hardly the end of the world. We have a strong enough squad to cope in the short-term. It's when the season really kicks on at the turn of 2020 that we may need reinforcements.
And according to the manager, we're prepared to move. I necessary. He said during his pre-match press conference today: "I am not here to speak about the Man City transfer window.
"It’s not important, for us it’s always the same, we don’t speak about it, we’re pretty much always ready.
"I think the summer window is really difficult because of the different moments it closes in Europe.
"It hurts only the English clubs, doesn’t help them but it is not the moment, so we will see."
While we're not exactly desperate for reinforcements right now, we are a little bit short of quality cover in certain positions. But even if we stick, rather than twist, in those areas, a nice little marquee signing to freshen things up in January wouldn't go down too badly.
