Liverpool 'open talks' with Timo Werner, according to reports
Apparently, the Reds have become German star forward Timo Werner's preferred destination, as reports over the international break claimed Man Utd were keen.
The 23 year old has risen quickly to become the number one German forward and his form for RB Leipzig has been nothing short of top class for the past few seasons.
But according to 'transfer expert' Ian McGarry Werner is fully on board with moving to Anfield and is keen to get it done as early as January. He may have to wait til the summer, however.
He told Reach Plc’s Transfer Window podcast: "Timo Werner is a target for Manchester United and Liverpool in the January window but it may be the summer before he actually makes the move.
"Raphael [Honigstein] told us that it was widely believed the player has a recision clause in his contract but no-one as of yet knows what it is.
"What we can tell you on the transfer window today is that Liverpool have begun the process of formal negotiations with RB Leipzig for the player’s transfer.
"We understand that contact has been made and indeed is ongoing between Liverpool and the German Bundesliga side and that Werner himself is keen for a move to Anfield.
"Of course, he would link up with countryman Jurgen Klopp."
Very interesting indeed, when you consider how clear it's been over the past few weeks that we could really do with some top-class goal-scoring back up for Bobby.
