Liverpool move 5 points clear, but Carra's Man City love-in continues
It's hard to believe sometimes these days that Jamie Carragher is a former Liverpool player, and widely regarded as a legend of the club. That takes some doing, considering.
But since the incident that saw him suspended from Sky Sports a couple of seasons ago Carragher has started to tow the party line more, almost becoming 'anti-Liverpool' in the process. It sounds dramatic, but his commentary is often quite negative toward his old club.
So it was hardly any surprise today, when the Champions of Europe comfortably swatted aside Newcastle, whilst Man City dropped points away to Norwich (leaving the Reds five points clear going into next weekend) that Carragher would praise the league holders.
Speaking following the defeat to Norwich tonight, Carragher commented that City were the best team in Europe, which obviously drew some ire from Liverpool fans on social media.
Obviously, the Sky Sports pundit couldn't help himself and took to responding. Here's his response to one Tweet:
