Liverpool make breakthrough in Gini talks amid interest from Barcelona
Reports in the last day have claimed that Liverpool have made a breakthrough in talks with midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, who's contract is due to expire.
The Dutch star has been a huge success since his moved from Newcastle in 2016, playing almost 180 times for Liverpool and winning every major trophy so far, with the Premier League incoming.
But talks with the 30 year old have been drawn out over the past 6 months, with many fans raising concerns that the reliable and versatile midfielder may leave on a free transfer.
Goal.com writer, Neil Jones, reported that Barcelona are admirers of the Dutchman and maintain an interest and also name drops Juventus and Bayern Munich.
But the Guardian claims that a breakthrough has been made, with it now looking likely that Gini will be offered a new contract taking him up to 2024, if they're to be believed.
Considering we've more than likely missed out on Timo Werner, and with the season restarting again next week, any announcement is likely to either coincide with that or wait until after the title is confirmed.
