Liverpool linked to Zenit's 'Iranian Messi'
With news today of Xherdan Shaqiri being likely to miss the start of the season, and the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane all likely to due to international commitments, Liverpool may be a little bit short up front from the start of next season.
So is it really and surprise to see the club linked with a new forward in today's transfer rumours? Not at all.
The story today is that the Reds are interested in the Iranian striker currently playing at Zenit St. Petersburg, Sardar Azmoun.
The 24-year old Iranian star only moved to Zenit in February but he's being linked with a move to one of Europe's stronger leagues this summer.
He's been one of the star men in the Russian league in the last year, scoring 14 goals in 17 games since joining.
The forward has been linked with the Reds in the past, a couple of years ago, in fact, but he's come on a bit since then and, according to SovSport, Liverpool are again keen.
