Liverpool fans would've filled Baku stadium, says Murphy
We're not normally ones for quoting talkSPORT but on this occasion it seemed necessary just to point out something that former Liverpool and Spurs player Danny Murphy said.
The former England star was discussing the disappointment that was the Europa League final last night, which saw huge sections of the stadium standing empty.
Both clubs had only been awarded 6000 tickets each, with both sending back around half their allocations. But Murphy claims that Liverpool fans would've packed the ground out.
He said: "The simple fact is that if Liverpool or [Manchester] United were in that final there wouldn't be empty seats in that stadium.
"They would get there and they would support their team. Liverpool supporters would have filled that stadium.
"It's not an opinion, it's a fact."
He's probably not wrong, as Reds travelled the (albeit, shorter) distance to Kiev last season, with some estimates suggesting there were upwards of 30,000 Liverpool fans making the journey from the UK. The stadium was simply a sea of Red. This time will be no different.
