LFC free to agree contract with Nike, as NB appeal rejected
So the news that Liverpool Football Club and Nike were hoping for was announced today, as New Balance's appeal of last weeks' High Court decision was rejected.
The High Court had, last week, found in favour of Liverpool, after New Balance had appealed Liverpool's attempts to agree a sponsorship contract with Nike over the club's current main kit supplier's.
New Balance, having agreed a deal to match any offer Liverpool received in their previous deal with the club, felt they had a right to match Nike's offer. But the judge found in Liverpool's favour, agreeing that the US sportswear brand couldn't match Nike's influence.
And their appeal of that decision was rejected this afternoon, which now leaves Nike and Liverpool free to sign a contract from next season.
