LFC apparently looking to Gomez or Werner to solve striker problem
According to reports this Monday morning, Liverpool are in a long queue to sign what will no doubt be two of this summer's hottest properties: Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo and that all too familiar name, Timo Werner of RB Leipzig.
The two young forwards are having great season again and bigger clubs are now starting to sniff around. Liverpool being one of those, if you believe the reports in the Guardian this morning.
Where do these rumours come from? Well, thin air as far as I can gather as not a single source is cited, other than to say that the going price for Gomez is £35 million. Werner, as we should already know would cost a fair bit more than that.
22 year old Uruguayan Gomez, has had 2 solid seasons at Celta, scoring 19 last season and has 9 so far this season. He's also been endorsed by Luis Suarez who has urged former club Liverpool to move for the forward.
More is known about Werner, of course, with Liverpool having been repea edly linked with him since Klopp's arrival. The Germany international has a more impressive 55 goals in 102 games since joining Leipzig.
Both or either would be good foils or alternatives to Bobby Firmino.
