Klopp requests Liverpool pre-season tour stays in Europe
It'll be good news for UK-based Reds, who are looking to plan their summer around Liverpool's pre-season tour (as many often do) as the club will be staying close to home.
The Athletic has confirmed that Jurgen Klopp has requested that the club stay in Europe during the summer, to ensure that the pre-season build-up benefits the club more.
Liverpool have been much farther afield every summer since 2010, just prior to Roy Hodgson and his disastrous half-season.
But Klopp wants the club to maximise their chances of further success during the 2020-21 season as well, when Liverpool will be Premier League champions, and - hopefully - 2-time European Champions as well.
Apparently, according to David Ornstein, Liverpool have turned down several lucrative offers to travel to far-flung parts of the globe for pre-season tours and tournaments.
With many of the team's first-team squad being involved in Euro 2020 and the Copa America though, Klopp wants to ensure that travel is minimised in the build-up to the new season.
