Klopp provides update on Thiago injury
Well, the hope that Thiago would be fit for Sunday appears to be unfounded, as Jurgen Klopp has announced today that the midfielder will not be available against Man City.
It had been hoped that he was left out against Atalanta on Tuesday to ensure he was able to make the match on Sunday. But with retrospect, it would be unlikely he'd be thrown into such a huge game after missing the last 4 weeks and with only a few sessions under his belt.
In his pre-match press conference today, he said: "With these kinds of injuries you always look day-to-day.
"There can be big improvements from one day to the other, and all these kinds of things.
"But in the end, when a boy has no problems anymore, then he has to train.
"The longer he’s out the longer he has to train until we consider him again as a starting line-up player.
"That’s obviously not the case with Thiago, and that means he will not be available for Sunday. That’s it."
The Reds should, and will, have plenty of options available to Jurgen Klopp ahead of the game though, with Gini Wijnaldum, Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson and James Milner all fit. Along with a host of other options that can play in Klopp's systems.
