Klopp provides injury update ahead of Wolves
With the games coming thick and fast at the moment, it's crucial for the Reds to be able to welcome players back into the fold as soon as possible.
That's why the injury update provided by Jurgen Klopp today was so important, and potentially crucial, ahead of a run of games that sees Liverpool play Wolves, Midtjylland, Fulham, Spurs, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Newcastle, all before 2021 starts.
Speaking ahead of the game at home to Wolves on Sunday, Klopp updated: "I don’t know yet, we will see. Trent and Naby will do the first steps in team training today; whatever we can do with that depends on how it looks.
"There are some niggles after the game against Ajax and we have to see how they respond. So far, they didn’t do a lot apart from treatment and stuff like this. We have to see how that develops [but] I don’t know in the moment.
"There is a chance Naby and Trent can be in the squad, I would say. If they can play, I don’t know. If they are in the squad then they can play, but if they can start or play 90 minutes, I don’t know. I think there’s a chance they are in the squad, yes.
"Apart from Naby and Trent, nobody is coming back, no."
Whilst it isn't the 'Van Dijk will be back in January' or 'Thiago will play on Sunday' news that many will have wanted, knowing that Trent and Naby could bolster the squad over the coming days is positive news indeed.
Jurg also goes on to suggest that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be back imminently too, saying that he is joining training and ball sessions. He will apparently be looked at over the coming days to potentially be considered for selection in the near future. All good news.
