Klopp provides an injury update on Thiago, Keita, Alisson and Ox
After the negativity over the weekend surrounding the injury to Virgil Van Dijk, there was at least some good news this afternoon regarding Thiago.
The boss has confirmed that the 29 year old will be assessed ahead of Ajax on Wednesday, suggesting that his 'knock' wasn't as bad as first suspected.
Jurgen said: "So, yes, he got a knock, a proper knock.
"All the rest, we have to see. It’s not even close to being as serious [as Virgil van Dijk]. But will he be ready for Wednesday? I don’t know yet. We will see."
Even if he doesn't manage to be ready for Wednesday, it's probably far more pressing that he be ready and fit for the weekend visit of Sheffield United to Anfield, and that we get back to winning ways in the league.
Elsewhere, the boss offered updates on other key figures, including Alisson Becker; a player whom it is probably important now more than ever that he returns sooner, rather than later.
He continued: "All good, really good.
"Naby trained yesterday, so that’s very positive. Oxlade is obviously in a long-term rehab, but looks good and is in a good mood usually. Ali looks very good. We have to see; catching balls and stuff like this is all possible. But we cannot rush it and will not rush it.
"Actually, it’s a common thing every day when I see Ali, I say: ‘How was it today?’ He always with a big smile tells me of the slight improvements. Today I didn’t see him [yet], so I can’t wait to ask for his progress!"
The Brazilian keeper has been a big miss for LFC since prior to the international break, and with us now devoid of our talismanic centre back, it's now essential he returns as soon as possible.
But the most positive update ahead of the game on Wednesday, came on Keita, who it appears should feature in some capacity, after his period of isolation came to an end. It looks as if he's expected to be available in some capacity against Ajax.
