John Stones says City 'still have to fight' for Premier League
Updated: Dec 7, 2019
Liverpool strode into an 11 point lead over title rivals Man City yesterday, after hanging on to a 2-1 win over Brighton at Anfield.
City had drawn 2-2 at Newcastle earlier in the day, twice squandering a lead and 2 vital points in the process.
Chelsea's two defeats in their last two games has seen them fall to 14 points behind the Reds, whilst Leicester are currently a goal down at home to Everton, at time of writing.
A defeat would leave Liverpool 11 points clear of any of their nearest rivals at the end of the weekend, heading into the derby on Wednesday night.
But Man City centre back John Stones has said that the team hasn't quite given up hope yet. He said (via the Liverpool Echo): "We can do it. It’s been done before, we need to be positive and keep believing in our team.
"It’s such a short space of time between now and Tuesday, but it’s something we need to do and keep fighting to contest for the Premier League.
"That’s the main goal and everyone’s dream. That dream should remain and we still have to fight for everyone. I’m sure the fans and everyone involved in the club is doing the same."
