Jesus: We don't have to worry about Liverpool
That's the view of Gariel Jesus', Man City reserve forward, extraordinaire. The Reds currently sit 2 points clear of Man City, who have a game in hand, knowing that any slip up from the current champions would leave winning the title in LFC's hands.
But the Brazilian forward believes that City have it all in their own hands and don't have to worry about hoping that Liverpool lose.
Speaking via Sport Witness (to ESPN Brazil), he said: "I don’t think we have to root against Liverpool, no. I think we’ve already passed that part of rooting against.
"I will not say that I want them to win, of course not. But I don’t think we have to worry about Liverpool. On the contrary, it depends on us.
"We have five more games, five decisions. If we win all five games, we are the champions again. It just depends on us."
That goes without saying, but Guardiola's team have a few very difficult matches coming up against Spurs in the Champions League midweek, Spurs will again be their opponent in the Premier League on Saturday, whilst they visit Old Trafford in the league in 8 day's time.
Those 3 fixtures will have a huge bearing on the success, or failure, of Man City's season and by the end of those 3 games, Jesus and his team mates could well be hoping Liverpool lose.
