James Pearce expects Liverpool to make Werner approach 'in the coming weeks'
There are few journalists that LFC fans can consider to be genuinely trustworthy, but James Pearce is one of them and his comments today have been particularly interesting.
Those comments regard one Timo Werner. Yes, that Timo Werner, the one that we've been linked to every day for about 18 months now.
So to James Pearce who, during a Q&A for the Athletic today said: "I wouldn’t say anything is definite, especially after what happened with Fekir a couple of years ago!
"However, clearly the player is very keen on coming to LFC and Klopp really likes him. Also he’s available at a decent fee. Discussions haven’t opened yet but I’d expect LFC to make an approach in the coming weeks."
Once again, the 23 year old is having a stellar season, having already netted 27 goals and 11 assists in 33 games and looks likely to be on his way in the summer.
He has a release clause of around £51 million which expires in April, but Pearce himself had already denied that this was the case earlier in the week. So we'll have to wait to see how this situation develops in the coming weeks.
