Hamann would be surprised if Thiago didn't join Liverpool
A lot has been crammed into the last 24 hours, with regards the proposed transfer of Thiago Alcantara to LFC, with many pundits, journalists, ex players and 'ITKs' having their say.
It seems that the only thing now stopping the Spanish midfield star from arriving at Anfield soon, is Liverpool themselves, should they choose not to match Bayern's asking price.
Former Liverpool midfielder, Didi Hamann, has had now say now too. He reckons it'd be a big surprise if the midfielder didn't end up at LFC.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Hamann said: "He’s been offered a contract in Munich which he’s turned down.
"He must have shown an interest in staying otherwise they wouldn’t have offered him a contract.
"But in the last minute he pulled out and said he might want to do something else.
"I’d be very surprised if he turned down a contract from Bayern Munich if he hasn’t got anything else [on the table].
"I’m sure he’s got an offer from Liverpool, it’s probably about the transfer fee now.
"I never felt he was a defensive midfielder who could play a holding role, but I’ve got to say he was absolutely magnificent against Bayern Munich the way he pulled things together.
"He’s a brilliant footballer who I think can give a different dimension to Liverpool’s midfield. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t end up at Liverpool.”
We should point out here that Hamann has absolutely no contact or insider knowledge, so this is all just ex-player, now pundit conjecture on his part. But it's hopeful thinking at least, for Liverpool fans where the world class treble-winner is concerned.
