Gomez talks about Liverpool defensive record ahead of Norwich arrival
So with the Premier League season starting in just over 48 hours, the Reds are all set for a big opener against newly promoted side Norwich City.
The Championship winners will provide the Champions of Europe with a new, but tricky test, as an unfamiliar side that we've not yet played under Jurgen Klopp.
But the home side on Friday have a formidable record at Anfield, having not lost at home in the league throughout the entirety of last season.
In fact, the Reds have not lost at home since April 2017, and Norwich will be looking to cause a huge upset against one of the favourites for the Premier League title again.
However, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has talked about how the defence that kept such an incredible record was created and what makes it so special.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Gomez said: "I think you just see each game as that individual game. But when you look back at that stat, it's special.
"I think it's a credit to the supporters. The atmosphere they set makes it very difficult for people to come to Anfield.
"Hopefully it's something we can continue. If we do that this year, I'm sure we'll be in a good place. Obviously [Norwich] will be the first time back since Madrid. It's always special playing at Anfield, I think that's one of massive pluses at being at this club.
"We know how much of a historic place it is and how good the atmosphere is. All the lads are looking forward to it."
