Four players to face Villa before flying out to join LFC squad in Qatar, confirms Jurgen Klopp
It wasn't a surprise to see the likes of Rhian Brewster, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones in the Liverpool squad to play in the FIFA Club World Cup this week.
What may come as a surprise though is that Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that four of the squad, including those players, will face Aston Villa on ten days before flying out to join the rest of the squad at the competition in Doha.
Rhian Brewster, Harvey Elliott, Neco Williams and Curtis Jones will all line-up against Aston Villa in the league cup, before immediately flying out to join the squad.
Liverpool will then play in the semi-final on the 18th December, less than 24 hours later. Klopp said (via the Liverpool Echo): "The situation is, in this moment, we have 16 adult players, so hopefully in two weeks, if everyone is available, we fly with the 16 there and the four boys come later.
"It is a completely normal decision.
"They play the game the day before [at Villa], we play on the Wednesday, they come in and watch the game and they are available for the possible final or the other game."
