Everton scout: LFC signing Koulibaly would be disaster for rest of Premier League
Strange days when an Everton scout is being quoted in the press, but that's the point this post-season has reached, as everyone scrambles around looking for stories!
You'll remember earlier in the week that Liverpool were reported to have expressed interest in Kalidou Koulibaly, the Napoli centre back.
Koulibaly is rated as one of the best centre backs in the world and, at 28, is likely to be wanting one big move as he approaches his peak.
Obviously, were Liverpool to move for the Senegal international then nobody would complain. But at over £100 million in price, it's a highly unlikely move.
But Everton scout Carlo Jacomuzzi believes that, while he would advise Liverpool to make that very move, it would actually turn out to be a disaster for the rest of the Premier League.
You see, Carlo reckons that a combination of Virgil Van Dijk and Kalidou Koulibaly would be near enough impregnable.
He told Italian outlet AreaNapoli: "Manchester United is a pitfall these days. City? If Guardiola makes a decision, they buy. Napoli want €130m? In England, there are four teams who can pay that amount.
"Liverpool? They’ve won so much from the Champions League, from the money from the federation and their sponsors that they can buy two Koulibalys. It would be a disaster for the others, having to find a way to go through that defence."
