Cringe-worthy complaint by Shrewsbury Town rejected by the FA
Good lord, you couldn't make it up, you really couldn't anymore. Our FA Cup 4th round opponents from February, Shrewsbury Town, had apparently lodged a complaint.
The club themselves have reported that LFC will face no action from the FA, after the complaint was rejected. They basically took issue with us fielding a 'weakened team'.
The funniest part of all is the fact that we actually beat them - very comfortably - 1-nil at Anfield, with barely a single player over the age of 20.
It was, probably partly due to that fact, decided that the match wouldn't be aired live on television and Shrewsbury are complaining that they missed out on money because of that.
We'd earlier Tweeted the official 'statement' from the club (let's be honest, it was an unmitigated whinge from the club CEO), which you can read here.
I'm almost certain that Liverpool won't respond to the statement from Shrewsbury. You almost wish they'd send £50k their way to get them to pipe down. But the fact that the CEO of the club still can't let this go 6 months later is reminiscent of Neil Warnock years ago.
What Caldwell fails to recognise is that the match fell during what was meant to be our 'Winter Break' and Klopp insisted on seeing it through, as per the FA's official guidance.
