CIES - Liverpool's squad the most valuable in European football
Are we surprised? Are we fuck!
The report from CIES Football Observatory today, that Liverpool's squad is the highest valued in Europe is sure to raise a few eyebrows elsewhere though, particularly at our rivals.
LFC has a squad that is apparently worth £1.27 billion, compared to Man City, who are listed second, with £1.24 billion. Which, in all honesty, is hardly a surprise considering what they've spent since Guardiola's arrival.
Of course, it isn't all about what you've spent, it's primarily what the players are now worth. And when you consider that we've spent around £500 million on the current squad, including players like Nathaniel Clyne and players currently out on loan.
So to see the value of those players almost triple is a remarkable achievement and just shows the great work and investment that the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Michael Edwards and the coaching staff have done up to now.
The next British team in the list is Chelsea, who sit in 5th, with Man Utd and Spurs rounding out the top-10.
Unsurprisingly, Real and Barcelona make up the top-5, whilst Juventus, Paris Saint Germain and our Champions League victors Atletico Madrid, make up the rest.
