Christian Falk: 'LFC want to negotiate fee for Wijnaldum first, then bid for Thiago'
Apparently, things may move very quickly in the coming days, as it looks as if Gini Wijnaldum is heading closer to the exit at the club.
That said, well respected German journalist, Christian Falk, has suggested that once Liverpool have a fee sorted out for Gini we will make a bid for Thiago. So one in, one out.
Basically, it's what many of us suspected from the start, that we'd only bring Thiago in if Gini chose to leave. A left back was a priority, and perhaps a back up centre back too.
But we're well-stocked in midfield. Bringing in Thiago will possibly hint at a change in how we play through the middle.
We probably would've struggled to accommodate so many highly rated midfielders with Gini, Henderson, Ox, Keita, Fabinho, Milner, Thiago and then adding in Curtis Jones who is likely to see a lot more action this season.
And the football journalist for BILD, when speaking to the Blood Red podcast today said that Liverpool are looking to negotiate a fee for Gini before any bid for Thiago is entered in.
He said: "Bayern officials on holiday and still waiting for bid; tough for Thiago to train again in Munich next week; German press knows more because talks to Bayern, who are interested in money; Liverpool want to negotiate Wijnaldum's fee first and then bid for Thiago".
As I said earlier today, expect things to happen very quickly this weekend. Friday is a traditional signing day for the Reds and with our final pre-season friendly coming up at Anfield on Saturday, it'd be a good time to get a big piece of our transfer activity finished.
