Breaking: Werner looks set to sign for Chelsea
Well, that happened out of the blue. It looks as if Chelsea are about to jump to the front of the queue to sign Timo Werner.
Many of those senior journalists close to the club had been reporting for weeks that the chances of Liverpool signing Werner were slim anyway, with James Pearce previously stating that little money will be spent in the summer due to Covid19.
But news that Liverpool have stood back and allowed Chelsea to snap up a player that seemed hell-bent on engineering a move to the club will irk many, many LFC fans. In fact, it seems to have done already, if you take a quick glance at social media tonight.
The news has broken in the last 5 minutes though that Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle with RB Leipzig to sign Werner, via Bild.
It's no presumably up to the forward himself to agree terms. Whether or not he'll hold out to see whether Liverpool will come in and match the offer remains to be seen.
Apparently Werner and his team have indicated that, unless Liverpool are to come in and rival the bid and offer, that the will signed the contract offered by the London club.
