Breaking: Liverpool's Nathaniel Clyne out for 6 months
It's not the best of news, particularly on the back of press reports that we're unlikely to do much in the final couple of weeks of the transfer window.
But Liverpool's right back Nathaniel Clyne has suffered a cruciate ligament injury and will be out for 6 months.
The 28 year old apparently suffered the injury against Borussia Dortmund but the extent of his injury was not at first known.
Only once the swelling was reduced a couple of days later did the club's medical staff realise the extent of the damage.
The news comes courtesy of Chris Bascombe in the Telegraph and will present another blow to the manager and squad, who are already dealing with a few pre-season injuries.
There is now zero chance that any club will take Clyne this summer, particularly with just a year remaining on his contract and he'll likely see out the next six months before signing a pre-contract agreement in January.
For Liverpool it gives us another headache, with only the centre back Joe Gomez as cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold. And unless we bring in some cover in positions where we're weak, the 33 year old James Milner will pretty much be back up for 11 different positions!
