Both Gomez & Henderson leave England squad and return to Liverpool
The Liverpool contingent of the current England squad has been reduced by half after both Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson returned to Liverpool today.
The pair have returned with injury, as Joe Gomez was injured in an accidental clash with a team mate during training. Whilst Henderson is suffering still with a viral illness.
If you're like us, you'd probably rather Trent and Alex had left the squad too and joined up with the Reds' squad, saving himself for the big months coming up but English players have a strange attachment to playing for their nation.
A statement released by the FA said: "Jordan Henderson will miss England’s final UEFA EURO 2020 qualifier in Kosovo on Sunday.
"Henderson arrived in camp with a viral infection that has not fully cleared. Meanwhile, his Liverpool team-mate Gomez sustained a knock in training on Friday and has not recovered sufficiently enough to travel.
"The pair now returned to their club meaning the Three Lions will head to Pristina on Saturday with a 23-man squad."
