Bizarre Sunday link: Liverpool looking at Ndombele loan?
If you believe Foot Mercato (which we're usually not inclined to), Liverpool are looking at the possibility of signing Tottenham's Tanguy Ndombele on loan.
The 23-year old signed for Spurs last summer for over £55 million and had a mixed season. But it's clear that there is a top class midfielder in there, if the team he plays for can utilise his strengths fully.
But why his club would be prepared to sell him at this stage, after less than a season at the club, is open to question. We just can't see it.
The report claims that Liverpool will be looking to sign him on loan initially next season, with an option to buy at the end of the season for £55 million.
Apparently though, Spurs will be open to the move, as Mourinho's relationship with the player has deteriorated. What a surprise.
I really can't see Liverpool looking to squander such a massive fee on a player with so many midfield options available, including Naby Keita, whilst forward and full-back options are much more pressing.
