Bild & Kicker claim Liverpool still interested in Julian Brandt
It's been a few years since we've heard this name associated with Liverpol FC but that has a little something to do with a particular Mo Salah.
Way back in the lead up to the summer of 2017, we were once again being heavily linked with a then 20 year old Julian Brandt. In fact, he was actually Jurgen's first choice.
He was then - thankfully for us - convinced by Michael Edwards and his staff to sign Mo Salah instead and the rest is consigned to the history books.
Less than 2 seasons later and Salah has 64 goals for the Reds and we'd be surprised if he doesn't close on 70 before the end of the season too.
The 22 year old has been linked with a number of big clubs over the years but Liverpool has always been seen as a prime destination.
Brandt has spent 6 seasons in Bayer's first team, playing over 200 games for the club and earning 23 caps for his country. He was famously picked ahead of City's Leroy Sane for the World Cup in 2018.
His form this season has been solid, with him now having been moved into a more central position. He's managed 7 goals, 10 assists in 32 games.
The 'kicker' though, is likely to be that his last contract reportedly has a 21 million release clause and he has just 2 years left on it by this summer. Leverkusen either need to get him signed up for another 4-5 years or sell him now.
Would Brandt fit into our team, and would he be a good squad option in place of Lallana?
